Two Point Hospital Review (PC)

When Two Point Hospital was released I was ecstatic. God knows how much of my youth I spent playing Theme Hospital, and still do to this day! Two Point Hospital is created by Two Point Studios who are British developers. The game is published by Sega, putting you in charge of a range of hospitals.

Two Point Hospital Gameplay

When you first dive into Two Point Hospital you’re tasked with creating your Hospital. You’ll need to design the rooms, place items, and hire enough members of staff to get things running.

Two Point Hospital Overview

Whilst the game may seem simple on the outside, it’s strategic requirements know no bounds. Even with years of experience playing its predecessor, I still find myself restarting my Hospital again and again to get it right. If one thing goes wrong, it’s easy for everything else to spiral out of control.

As with Theme Hospital, Two Point Hospital continues down the humorous route. I’m not sure I’ll ever find the commentary boring. It’s genuinely has me giggling and I can’t recall many games that do that. You can definitely tell the game was developed by the Brit’s; I fear some people may not ‘get’ the jokes. Either way, I love it and I’m sure you will too.

Two Point Hospital Staff

The extensive training of staff in Two Point Hospital has come on leaps and bounds. Certain missions will require you to train staff in certain areas, e.g. surgery. These skills can be levelled up by further training, and members of staff can have multiple ‘skill slots’.

In this game you can’t just forget about your staff. Maybe during the first missions you can give them a pay rise when they moan to keep them happy, but that won’t last long. Staff need more than just money, and it’s your job to maintain their happiness. People have different skills as well as different personalities, and you’ll have to cater for this. I really like the fact that you have to consider everything in Two Point Hospital, forget one key element and your Hospital is doomed!

Two Point Hospital Currency

I’m really enjoying the new introduction of Kudosh which allows you to unlock items. Although some of the challenges are ridiculously easy to complete (and cheat in a sense), it’s another thing to work for. You’ll need to manage your Hospital funds as well as Kudosh in order to run a fully functioning hospital. Although it may be considered a casual game, it’s far from it.

Two Point Hospital Overview

In terms of simulation or management games, Two Point Hospital by far has the cleanest interface. It’s easy to use and doesn’t need explaining. Features are at the click of a button and seem far more intuitive than other games I’ve played. The developers have even created a new set of controls from the ground up specifically for the console version of Two Point Hospital.

This game has a special place in my heart. It makes me laugh, it makes me want to cry, and I’m insanely addicted to it. Since having a baby I’ve not had much time to play on my PC, so I’m very much excited for the console release later this year. If you’re looking for a game that plays well, looks good, and requires strategic planning, I highly recommend Two Point Hospital.
