Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is back with vengeance

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is back. When I first heard about this, to be honest I expected yet another over the top bouncing around on the moon title.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a reboot. This means we will have that gritty, actual warfare feel coming back to the game. *Cue girly scream*.

The game is being built on a brand new engine. It will be released on October 25th and will include cross platform play, meaning PC and console players can finally jump into the action together.

Personally it’s been a while since I’ve been this excited about a Call of Duty game.

Recently, Call of Duty titles had taken a sci-fi approach. However, it has been confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will take the series back to it’s gritty, realistic roots.

Although the sci-fi aspect can be good, and works in it’s own right, I’m personally not a fan. One of my favourite elements of Call of Duty is the zombie mode. To me, this took a turn for the worst and I ended up not wanting to play the games.

Being a reboot, we can expect some familiar faces from the old Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series to be making a come back.

No Season Pass:

The other thing that is interesting about the new COD title is the lack of season pass. Breaking away from the normal format, the developers have confirmed that there will be FREE maps and content as well as post launch event.

PC Minimum Specs:

Free up some Hard Drive space and jump on your Amazon account to order some new parts, it’s time for the PC specs, make sure you’re sitting down for this one!

  • DirectX 12 compatible system
  • Windows 7 64-Bit (SP1) or Windows 10 64-Bit
  • Intel Core i3-4340 or AMD FX-6300
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 / GeForce GTX 1650 or Radeon HD 7950
  • 8GB RAM
  • 175GB HD space
  • Broadband Internet connection

Okay, DirectX 12, check! Windows 7 or Windows 10, check, 175GB HD space, umm what?!

In each of the Specs, the HDD references HD space of 175GB. 175GB is the storage space we recommend players keep available in order to download the post-launch content we’ll be bringing to Modern Warfare. At launch, the initial download will be smaller.

Activision’s blog

You can see the full spec article here and with some of the specs listed for the Competitive and Ultra RTX Specs I think we may be due an upgrade.

Ultra RTX Specs:

  • Requires DirectX 12 compatible system
  • OS: Windows 10 64 Bit (latest update)
  • CPU: Intel i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 2700X
  • Video: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER
  • RAM: 16GB RAM
  • HDD: 175GB HD space
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

We have a couple of cards that we suggest if you are looking to add Ray Tracing capibilities to your system.

At 175GB Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now the biggest (In both senses) game of the year, with Red Dead Redemption 2‘s PC version trailing just behind at 150GB.

Zombies:

Although a lot of people seem happy about this, I’m not sure I am among those people. Zombies will not be coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as the developers feel this would retract from the games military seem, realistic approach to the series.

I can see where they are coming from, but personally I think, it’s a game, have a realistic campaign and multiplayer and the Zombies mode as a completely unrelated extra.
